(Jul 15, 2015) – The Morning Call -A state-hired cleanup company Tuesday began clearing construction and demolition material that authorities say was illegally dumped in Carbon County by a Northampton County company.
The state Department of Environmental Protection says the cleanup crew visited Torco Supply off Riverview Road in East Penn Township and a government-owned building off Route 895, also in East Penn.
The two properties are among seven sites on which MS Recycling of Lower Mount Bethel Township dumped items, according to the DEP.
MS owner Michael Lee Stine was ordered last October to clean up the sites but did not do it. The state hired a contractor to do the work at a cost of no more than $68,000. That money comes from the state’s solid waste abatement fund, a fund paid into by businesses fined for environmental violations.
